SERVICE PROJECTS

Our Kiwanis Club has been a good citizen in our Providence Point community and the greater Issaquah area. Listed below are some of the projects we have participated in.

The motto of Kiwanis is “Serving the Children of the World.” The Kiwanis Club of Providence Point has carried out this mission in many ways.

  • Cub Scouts: The club has chartered and is an active supporter of Cub Pack 225. The pack has won many honors in the Mt. Rainer Council.
  • Key Club: We presently sponsor a Key Club at Eastlake High School. Key Clubs are student-led service organizations for high school students, focusing on service, building character, and developing leadership skills, and is part of the Kiwanis International family.
  • School Volunteering and Mentoring: Members have volunteered in the schools of the Issaquah School District. Others have participated as mentors through the district’s VOICE Program. In addition, we have held meetings to encourage other Providence Point residents to participate in these programs.

Kiwanis Club members have given assistance to many individuals and organizations in our community and in the greater Issaquah area.

  • Medical Loan Closet: We loan medical equipment, such as, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, toilet risers, etc. to Providence Point residents. There is no charge for borrowing the equipment. See the Medical Loan Closet page or look in the latest edition of “To the Point” for the names of those to contact.
  • Food Distribution: There is a bin next to the Activity Office for Providence Point residents to leave food. The food is delivered to the Issaquah Food Bank. The Food Bank asks that we only donate unopened and unexpired food items. A priority list of items may be found on the Food Bank website.
  • Save our Spectacles: There is another bin near the Activity Office where residents can drop off old eyeglasses. We send these to the Northwest District Office of Kiwanis where their “Giving the Gift of Sight” to people around the world has been very successful. Please only donate the eyeglasses, eyeglass cases are not accepted.
  • Volunteering: Members have given their time to volunteer at the Issaquah Food Bank and KidVantage.
  • Assist with Providence Point Activities: Our club has provided assistance to the Providence Point Activity Office with some of the events put on in our community.
